Polishing Stainless Steel Tank heads

April 25, 2014 by Eric

Having many years of experience working with stainless steel polishing pays off in the end result. We use a multi step process to achieve the look or RA that the customer desires. No matter if it is mill plate finish or a clean 2B mill finish on the stainless steel, we can polish it to what ever your needs are.

This tank is the end use for the previous photo of the 2 tank heads.

These heads are different. The on on the right is a 10ga. 2B polished stainless steel tank head, and the on on the left is a 3/16" plate polished stainless steel tank head.

Seam welding large Stainless Steel Tank heads

April 9, 2014 by Eric

We just received a question about 2B material being available wider than 72″ and thicker than 10ga. The simple answer, unless you are buying 40,000 lbs. and have three months to wait, it isn’t. The common solution is to simply seam weld the large blank and polish out the weld. We are a A.S.M.E. Code shop with a “U” and “R” stamps. We have the capability to Certify the weld to be in compliance with A.S.M.E. Code if necessary. It is nearly impossible to “hide” a seam weld, so we do the best we can to make it as cleanly finished as possible.

Polishing Stainless Steel and Aluminum Tank heads takes a lot of know how.

April 1, 2014 by Eric

I recently received a call from a friend who saw our web site. He was admiring the polish on our Aluminum Tank Heads. He said, “I sure wish my car rims could look like your heads.” As a favor to him I stayed late one night and used the polished equipment and materials on his extremely corroded rims. Stainless steel or Aluminum we have the expertise and know how to polish to an exceptional finish.

Aluminum Tank Heads get a high buff polish

March 27, 2014 by Eric

Almost every day we get to work on projects that require special attention. We were recently asked to build a few special heads. This picture is of an aluminum tank head that we took extra time to polish because it has a very unique end use. These will become part of an executive airplane refueling trailer for a private landing strip at an individual’s mountain get away. When completed it will be detailed to match the impressive plane it will be supporting. We look forward to the photos of the completed project.

Looking back over 29 years in business.

Our polished stainless steel head display at the show.

Our polished stainless steel head display at the show.

It is simply incredible looking back at the history of Wisconsin Stainless Head Mfg., Inc. I recently received an incredible gift from Ray Anderson and Penton Marketing. I knew that sometime in the Late 1980’s or early 1990’s my father, the company founder, and I went to the International Liquid Waste Haulers Equipment Trade Show in Nashville, TN. I also knew our photo was in an edition of “Modern Bulk Transporter” magazine. We certainly have evolved since then and time has changed the magazine as well. It is now “Bulk Transporter”, but it is still published by the same group of individuals. I emailed Ray the publisher and the search was on! It took some time and a few clues, but we figured out that it was the April 1990 edition. I was hoping for an electronic scan of our image. Ray mailed me an original copy of the magazine! Thank you! And thank you for your efforts back in 1990. To be placed on the same page with long standing companies like Brenner Tank and Cusco was very helpful for us in the early years. I was a sophomore in college and our company was in its fifth year of existence. Our photo caption mentions our expansion to be able to produce 2,400 tank heads per year. We now have the capacity to build 1,600 tank heads per month. Thank you to all of our customers over the years and we look forward those we have yet to work with.

A Stainless Steel Tank head has many cool uses!

March 3, 2014 by Eric

The combination of Limestone and Stainless Steel make for an artistic outdoor beer and drink cooler. This made the perfect cooler for a summer baby shower. This is a mill finish 56″OD, 316L-2B stainless tank head set on natural limestone blocks. We chose not to polish the head for this use. The mill finish went nicely with the stone.
